CSS and Carp Design

C.A.R.P.

C.A.R.P. stands for contrast, alignment, repetition, proximity. These are the four main design principles. This web project was for us to see and se the four principles of design as well as get a better understanding of the elements of dreamweaver. We were given a packet with a list of thing we need to do and then instructions on how to do it all. All of the information we put into dreamweaver went into the html code and that held all of the things we changed together.

How Carp Made It Better

Before CARP
Contrast made it all so much better simply by making the website look a lot less bland than if it was just in black and white. Once all of the different colors were put in there it looked so much better already and then the font types and sizes made certain parts of the poem really stand out.

Alignment made the website look better by making it so that there wasn't any parts that looked odd or out of place. it also put the picture of the dog in a spot that made a lot more sense than when it was just kind of there in a random spot. All of the text being aligned in a certain way made the page look a lot more organized.

Repetition helped the website because it gave order to the entire page. It also helped tie the top and bottom of the page together so it didn't look unfinished.

Proximity made everything look like it was in the right place. When the title looked like it was too far away it was easily fixed. Proximity made everything look less cluttered and more put together and intentional.

What Was Learned

I learned many things about CSS like how to adjust different things and where things that would adjust it were located. I also learned how to find different things and change them through html if I couldn't fix it directly through the options dreamweaver gives. Playing with C.A.R.P. was really interesting because you could tell when something looked wrong and then you could go and fix it. That also helped with finding my way around dreamweaver and gave me a better sense of where things are in it.
